My name is Andrew Selkirk, and I am the founder and long-term editor of the magazine Current Archaeology. This was launched with my wife Wendy in 1967, as a magazine to give news about current archaeology. The magazine was a success, and we built up a subscription to nearly 19,000.

In 1998 I was joined by my son Robert and we launched a new magazine on World Archaeology. Since then two more magazines have been added, Military History Matters, and Ancient Egypt.

Three of the magazines are sold in America and are flourishing.

I am now writing a book Why Greece, exploring that the reason why Greece was so important was that Greece invented money and the market economy, and that this produced a new form of society in ancient Greece, introducing Markets, Democracy and Freedom
